# The Agent Development SDK

Building custom, complex agents.

The Agent Development SDK is your toolkit for unlocking the full customizability of Uptiq's intelligence core.

Designed for architects and advanced developers, this SDK provides the necessary interfaces, libraries, and methods to define complex agent behaviors, integrate custom reasoning engines, and fine-tune resource consumption and error handling.

Use the SDK to move beyond prompt-driven creation, allowing you to build specialized agents that adhere to unique enterprise architecture and performance demands.

### Which SDK is this?

Four different things in Qore are called an SDK. They are not variants of each other.

| SDK | What it is for | Runs in |
| ---------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------- |
| **Widgets SDK** (`@uptiqai/widgets-sdk`) | Dropping a prebuilt chat interface into your web app | Browser |
| **Headless Agent JS SDK** | Building your own chat UI against an agent, with sockets and events handled for you | Browser |
| **Agent Development SDK** | Defining agent behaviour in code rather than in the builder | Your own service |
| **Skill Development SDK** | Wrapping your own business logic as a skill any agent can use | Your own service |

The first two are about *talking to* an agent that already exists. The last two are about *building* what the agent is and what it can do. If you want to call an agent from your backend and you are not extending the platform, you want neither.

**This page needs its reference material before it ships.** Package name and registry, install command, the entry point and its signature, a minimal working example, and the versioning rule against executor versions — the same set the Widgets SDK already documents on [Integrate Agent](/console/agent-builder/deploy/agent-integration.md). Written as a visible hint rather than a comment, which this repo strips on GitBook round-trip.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.uptiq.ai/platform-resources/the-agent-development-sdk.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
