# Borrower

Give borrowers access to invited application sections and requested documents.

The Borrower portal is for the person or business applying for the loan. It gives borrowers access to their applications and requested documents. The workspace adapts to the invitation the borrower receives.

{% hint style="info" %}
The portal title on screen is set in [Branding](broken://pages/X8mLUQoeSD9mpfXL4o18). Borrowers can sign in with email and password, an emailed sign-in link, or optional Auth0 or Nucleus single sign-on.
{% endhint %}

### Borrower access

Borrowers can enter the portal through these paths:

| Entry point | What the borrower can do | Learn more |
| ---------------- | ------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------- |
| Invitation | View the application and edit only the invited sections | [Intake collaborators](broken://pages/3X5MSl4aG2ZQWfdSnGBB) |
| Document request | Upload requested documents                              | [Documents](broken://pages/XsuD4CRhLme4qZzQ79gw)            |
| Public intake | Start an application without signing in | [Public intake](broken://pages/Xw4PBzhpkQRUcrlBiMHU) |

Borrowers sign in at `/borrower/login`, create an account at `/borrower/signup`, or use an emailed sign-in link. Links expire after 15 minutes. See [Sign in and create an account](broken://pages/mkKRbcxw2KtsLFxqODFM).

{% hint style="warning" %}
Don't create borrower accounts from **Users** in Settings. Invitations, sign-up, and public intake create these accounts.
{% endhint %}

### Branding and authentication

Configure the portal's title, description, and disclaimer in [Branding](broken://pages/X8mLUQoeSD9mpfXL4o18). Configure sign-in providers in [Auth providers](broken://pages/mUT7jK562tdGefcpPqUa). Partners who submit applications on a borrower's behalf use the [Partner](/commercial-lending/getting-started/portals-and-roles/partner.md) portal.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.uptiq.ai/commercial-lending/getting-started/portals-and-roles/borrower.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
